Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a modern martial art & combat sport born of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu. Through trial and error the Brazilians have developed a very simple yet very intricate theory & strategy for approaching self-defense, sportive grappling and mixed martial arts competition. This strategy employs a variety of techniques including throws & takedowns with the emphasis on grappling and ground work where the goal is set on gaining positional dominance over your opponent to force submission utilizing joint locks & chokeholds. Shuhari Martial Arts is a proud member of the Franco/Behring Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association of Canada. Under the tutelage of Professor Sylvio Behring of Brazil and Professor Shah Franco of Toronto, Shuhari Martial Arts offers the progressive system of Jiu-Jitsu. This proven and effective system includes self-defense, Judo and ground fighting.

Karate
Traditional Okinawan GoJu Ryu is one of the most effective and well respected Karate systems in the world today. Taught intact with hundreds of years of lineage, this system, through form practice, preserves and teaches the science of movement and principles of stand up fighting. GoJu is primarily known as a strikers art with excellent movement and angle fighting capability. With a specialty in close quarter environments, we also see it’s inside fighting nature, one that utilizes elbows, knees and trap hand striking.
Kung Fu
Kung Fu is a Chinese Martial Art with a spiritual dimension, stemming from concentration and discipline. From the family of striking arts, it incorporates the movements and fighting styles of 5 separate animals: the Tiger, Leopard, Dragon, Crane and Snake. Each animal form of the Ng Ying Kune (Five Animal Forms) system has its own strategy of combat and focuses on specific developmental aspects of the body and mind.
Kubodo (Weaponry)
The goal of weapons training is "integration" where the weapon becomes an extension of one's own body rather than used as a separate appendage. The important physical aspects of weapons training involve the teachings of transition and directional movement, body alignment, balance, grace and co-ordination between the body and the weapon. Studies include Okinawan & Chinese weaponry, improvised weapons and knife fighting.
